How can I set up an older computer for home networking?

I have one pc connected to a Cisco wireless router and also use my laptop w/a pc lan card to connect. I have an older pc in the basement I would like to set up for wireless but it currently has no wireless capabilities. Do I need to get a network adapter card for it or what do I need to do?? I need help! Thanks!!

    Yes. You need to have a wireless adapter to make a system connect to a wireless router. Check the old system and make sure you have an open slot for the card. Make sure the card you get is compatible such as a PCI card. Older systems did not have PCI slots.

    You need to fit a wireless PCI card inside the case or a USB receiver in a USB port to get wireless capability. Older computers often came with a modem but no network card but this is no problem.
    I would buy a PCI wireless card like this one:
    (only an example and not a recommendation of brand BTW).
    Follow the instructions to load software and drivers. Some cards require the software to be installed first and then the hardware.
    Probly a good idea to find a card with a long range buy reading reviews as it sounds like you have a fair distance for the signal to travel and probly through substantial obstacles…
